More Hailey Pictures
I’m at a loss for a creative title, or even a real post. Probably why my other blog hasn’t had an entry in two months. Anyway, Hailey is doing great!! She’s gaining weight–> 6 oz. in five days as of Tuesday. She likes to eat…, good thing, because eating is our favorite too.
Pretty amazing that she can already hold her head up if she’s on her stomach, or if she’s sitting in her boppy (I have to think of a better name for that thing). Once you scroll down a bit further, some pictures of her first bath. No, there’s no photos below that will embarrass her in the future, she’s got me to do that.

More Pictures of Hailey
So we’ve taken pictures at every opportunity and have been putting the new camera to good use. Here’s a couple more pictures. If anyone would like me to send you any (of these below or others), email me at evan.mcintire@gmail.com. Most of the files are about 5 megs, good enough resolution to print a 4×6.

Hailey Rose!

Here she is! All 7lbs 8oz and 19 1/2 inches of adorableness!
She arrived at 3:09 am on Thursday January 11, after about 14 hours of labor. All the staff at the Brigham were fantastic, right down to the NICU team that was waiting in the wings if needed. Hailey learned how to poop before she was supposed to and had some meconium in her amniotic fluid. So the NICU team was on standby, but she fought them and said she was fine! The funniest part was that I knew the resident who came down and he was very quick to let me know he was just looking at the baby, not me!
So we’re home now, settling in and figuring it all out. Give us a call, we may actually be ready for visitors some day! More pictures will be coming soon….

You *both* look fantastic — can’t wait to see her in real life.
Sooooo … how big were her feet?
At least she didn’t get the same nose as me!

Long awaited update….
Sorry for the delay in posts. Life has been hectic, with me finishing up work, holidays, and oh yeah- getting ready for this baby that is going to be here (hopefully) in the next 2 weeks!
We are putting the finishing touches on Hailey’s room. It’s very pink! And Evan has pink paint on his old work shoes and on 2 pairs of pants… He’s definitely the daddy of a little girl.
We finished up with our childbirth class. Glad that’s over with. It was good for the delivery part, but the last class was how to take care of babies and swaddling and what not. I know that stuff already!
We went on the tour at the Brigham yesterday. I was surprised, they don’t have wireless internet for patients. We have that at Children’s, which is great for families to keep people up to date! So I guess I will have to make sure to make phone calls to work and stuff… Also, I didn’t realize that visiting hours were from 1-8! When Steph had her baby Oceannah almost 2 years ago, one of the other girls and I went from work at 8 am to go visit her. We walked right by security and on to the floor without anyone saying a word to us…. must have been the scrubs!
My OB says I am looking good, everything was progressing well at the visit on Tuesday. Then on Wednesday night, baby decided to take a little swan dive down into my pelvis. Yup, we watched her pick up and move down! Yay for getting closer to her being here! I’m tired of being pregnant…
So we have one more shower next week. We would love books and music, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE no Wiggles or Barney! We would also love newborn type clothes and over 6 month clothes. We have tons of clothes in between….
Love you all and Happy New Years!

Nesting
So we got the crib and Hailey’s room underway yesterday. I moved our bed to the front bedroom, which has pretty much been an accumulation of crap over the last year. Now it’s just well-organized crap that we have to go through and dispose of. Yay.
The crib was really easy to assemble, and the dresser / changing table made the move down the hall, too. I still think I’d like to take a shot at painting a coat or two, just to make it Hailey’s room, not just another apartment room.
**Pre-emptive apology to the people who take over our apartment when we leave: Sorry about the pink room, but now you deal with it.
***I’ll take some pictures when I get home and put ‘em up here.

Our Car
Well, after all the homework we did and dealerships we visited, we got the 2007 CR-V. With all the bells and whistles. Navigation system, XM radio, CD changer, leather interior, AND it was just ranked the safest SUV in its class. We have to wait for it to arrive at the dealership, as the ones w/ the navigation system aren’t even done being built yet.
Wanna go for a ride? Well so do I, but we gotta wait ’til just after Christmas.

Healthy Baby
We went to the OB this morning for the regular 2 week checkup. Andrea’s doing great, and so is Hailey. Hailey’s up to about 4 lbs. now!! One more and she’ll be just like a little sack of potatoes (reference to when you carry the little ones over your shoulder like a _____).
The appointments come every two weeks now, and in 4 weeks they do another ultrasound to check the position. After that, there’s a weekly appointment….. and then…. !!!
We hope to put the crib together this weekend, and make some more progress on the car. We ended up getting the Olympus camera from the last post and are figuring out how to get good pictures w/ it. Fortunately, Nate got the same camera last spring, so I’ll be able to borrow a book or two from him, and hopefully pick up a trick or two.

Gearing Up For Hailey (literally)
This weekend was cars, cribs, & cameras. We went up to NH to see Andrea’s parents and shop around for the aforementioned items. We did pretty good, I think.
First was the crib. Went to Tiny Totland in Manchester, where we found this crib:

It’s made by Sorelle, called “Nadia.” That doesn’t mean much to me except: cheaper than the Italian cribs. Seriously, there were cribs made in Italy that were upwards of $1,000. As if to say “Enjoy your crib / bed, Hailey, it’s all you’ll be sleeping in until you go to community college.”
We got it in white, it has a drawer underneath, and converts to a toddler bed. Oh yeah, and it was ON SALE. Score.
Next came the vehicle. We’ve test-driven the Honda CR-V already but wanted to see what else was out there in the same class / price range. First up was Hyundai’s Tuscon. About the same size as a CR-V, but not nearly as much cargo space, and definitely not enough leg room. Danny DeVito would be cramped in this thing. Also, for the same price as a CR-V, it didn’t really match up too well.
We considered the Saturn Vue next. Checked them out online, you know, the ‘build your own’ on the websites? The starting price on the Saturn is cheap. So you go into it thinking you’ll save a bundle. Until you figure out that you have to pay extra for things like the side airbags, traction control, roof rack, radio, and oh yeah, POWER STEERING. If you add all that stuff up as extras, you come out w/ a price tag $10 K more than you started. I’ve never talked to anyone that’s owned a Saturn, on to Honda.
We test drove the ‘07 CR-V a month ago and loved it, it’s got everything. Tons of cargo space, comfortable seats, it’s super safe for babies in the back seat w/ special seatbelts (xtra $$ on other cars). Testimonials from people who’ve bought Honda before say they last a looong time, 10 years plus. Good MPG plus more in terms of convienent features that the other 2 don’t have, but for the same price.
It also has an optional in-dash navigation system. For those of you who don’t know how badly I need something like this, click here. Though it does cost extra, there is no subscription service like the after market ones (basically like paying another cell phone bill). The only kicker is that there aren’t any CR-Vs available. Much less with the navigation sys. in them. We’d have to order off the truck, and soon. We’ll see what we decide.
On to the camera. I know what I want and what I need. I want a digital SLR w/ high resolution, adjustable focus, and possibly an extra lens for good measure; something that an ametuer can use but would fit an experienced photographer also. By the time Hailey is 1, I hope to be at that stage. I don’t want a professional photographer’s camera that doesn’t come with a lens in the base price. These things are a lot of $$$$$. We’re talking rent here. Do I buy the camera or pay rent? I could get the camera and take a picture of where I used to live…
So this is the leading candidate.
Fits the bill for resolution and features. Easy to use, but good once I get relatively good at the digital photography thing, and for the listed price it comes with two lenses. Again, once I get as good as I intend to, I’ll want / need the extra lens.
There’s a good chance I’m going to buy this one tonight, or potentially kick myself when they 2 lens deal is over.
This post has gone on long enough, I’ll fill in our Friday night later on. Hint: we took Hailey to her 2nd (or 3rd?) concert.
