Ugh.  Heat waves and babies are not a good combo.  I’m sure it’s worse for my friends who are due in August, but keeping a teething almost 6 month old happy in over 90 degree heat is almost impossible!  (more…)

Father’s Day Weekend

My first Father’s Day weekend was great!  We left Boston on Saturday morning for Andrea’s cousin’s wedding.  The ceremony was in Portland at Southern Maine Community College.  A wedding at SMCC?  I thought the same thing, but the ceremony was on the beach, the reception was in a quaint little function hall w/ a buffet and live 3 piece jazz band.  It was a beautiful day, got to see Andrea’s family, and Hailey behaved perfectly.  It was a great day.

Since Andrea had Sunday planned as a surprise for me, we stayed Saturday night in Portland at the DoubleTree hotel.  Sat. night I went over to Ian’s apartment for a bit, then came back and crashed.  I woke up on Sunday morning w/ a note and a picture of Hailey in a bathing suit on my phone–> come down to the pool Daddy!  I went down, went for a quick swim w/ her (it was her first time in a pool), then we went up to the room to pack our stuff up for the noon checkout.

My father’s day gifts:  tickets to the Sea Dogs game Sunday, a couple funny t-shirts (pics later), a deck of Uno cards, and some snacks (which I think are partially for Andrea as well, hehe).

The ballgame was sooo much fun.  It was Hailey’s second ballgame (we went to see the PawSox a month ago) and she was introduced to a new food:  hot dog bun.  She kept grabbing at the hot dog I was eating so I gave her a chunk of bread.  She loved it.  Second day in a row that Hailey behaved like a little angel.  That is, until the 8th inning.  It was quite obvious that she had pooped, so Andrea went to change her.  After what seemed to be quite a while, I wondered where they were.  Maybe getting some water?  Another hot dog for her insatiable new taste?  My phone rings, it’s Andrea.  “We have to leave.  She crapped everywhere.  On her, on me (Andrea), on the changing pad, the floor, etc.”

I gathered our stuff and headed down.  Hailey was naked (had a diaper) and Andrea was wearing her tank top, poop all down the front of her white pants, her shirt covered in crap and all balled up.  We drove to York for dinner w/ Mom, Dad, Ian, and Courtney, did some laundry, then headed back to Boston.

Best Father’s Day so far!!!!

**I took almost 100 pics on Sat and Sunday, but don’t have the camera here at work.  I’ll put up some photos after Hailey hits the hay tonight**

Andrea’s co-worker, Steph, and her husband Chris have two adorable kids:  Hunter and Annah.  Though Hunter’s not so adorable in this clip, it’s really funny to hear Chris behind the camera being so matter-of-fact.

This whole fit comes from Hunter having the whole deck of playing cards, his sister has 1.  1 card.

Since neither Andrea or I have posted in about a month, I needed to update here.

Hailey is five months old now!  Wow.  Five months…., she’s an awesome, interactive, alert, and adorable little human!  One of these days (or in 5 minutes), she’s gonna crawl.  She gets up on her hands and knees, rocks back and forth, then falls on her side.  She’ll get the coordination down…., and then all hell’s gonna break loose.

I can already picture her being a wild little kid like I rember Ian and Jon being.  Oh jeez.  As long as she doesn’t strip in the front yard (Ian), and get into Dad’s nips of booze (Jon, but just once) we should be ok.

Anyway, I’m making a full blown effort to learn more HTML and CSS code to be able to write a better design for this site.  Something more Hailey-ish and original, instead of this template.  I mean, I do a bunch of stuff for work websites, and farm out the tough stuff to my friend Nate (yes he gets paid by the firm), so I should be able to do stuff for my daughter.

At any rate, this post is done, so now you can go read about cucumber soda.  Yup.  It’s real.  http://www.comcast.net/news/index.jsp?cat=GENERAL&fn=/2007/06/13/688231.html&cvqh=itn_cucumbersodacuke_pepsi.jpgember Ian and
